She has a wonderful voice(normally) but in this it seems to be more of "look what I can do with this aria" than "listen to what Strauss has composed in this aria".
Go and look at what Reri Grist does with this aria,she is/was very underated,by by god can she sing Zerbinetta!

I love Damrau, but i've to say that i dont like her Zerbinetta...her gasps and stranges breaths are so weird.... I prefer Dessay in this aria, I think she fit well the role. (Although I prefer Damrau in other arias like der holle rache and glitter and be gay...)

die damrau ist für mich die grösste koloratursopranistin unserer zeit. ihre zerbinetta
muss mit der von gruberova absolut gleichgestellt werden.
aber ich bin überzeugt, dass wir von ihr noch viel viel mehr erwarten können.
wie sich diese karriere entwickelt, wird sie noch viele überraschungen für uns parat haben.
sie ist nicht nur phaenomenal und schön und natürlich, sie ist auch sehr sehr klug.
ich freu mich auf die zukunft von und mit diana damrau

she does breath kinda heavily but this is just horrible for her. i expected ay more. one of the worst ive heard.

Heh, she always breathes heavily. maybe in this case the recording equipment just happened to pick it all up..

what on EARTH? was this a bad day for her? apart from the humongous gasps of breath between very, very short phrases, she took absolutely no care proceeding with her notes in the latter half, and got really off-key. what is up with that? Damrau is usually so good, too.
