Oscar De La Hoya Announces His Retirement from Boxing

The Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya, announced his retirement from professional boxing on Tuesday afternoon, April 14 in front of a robust crowd at Star Plaza at LA Live (across the street from Staples Center). De La Hoya was joined at the podium by Golden Boy Promotions business partner Richard Schaefer, wife Millie, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (also from East Los Angeles), Tim Leiweke of Anschutz Entertainment Group (now a Golden Boy business partner) and father Joel De La Hoya.
