Manual 2D to 3D image conversion by creating a depthmap

This tutorial illustrates how to create a depthmap and use it to create a 3D image from a 2D one in 3DCombine. It is not intended as a tutorial on 2D image editing, there are a number of different tools and ways to achieve the same effect, but as a basic guide to what is required from a depthmap and how to go about creating them. The image used can be downloaded from Freeimages.co.uk.
