  • If you will review the NREMT skills sheet for this skill you will find that "cracking" the tank is not a step included. Your local system may teach this, and if you do not keep a sealed tab around your O2 tanks ports then dirt could get in there which would require that quick blast to remove. However, if your tanks are kept properly secured you should have no need to "crack" the tank. Thanks for the comment!
