  • Matatu is a Kenyan Trademark just like Samba is for Brazil and Car races for USA. I wonder why some people argue that matatus should be painted in one colour to look like the Ugandans' . We must remember that Kenya is and will always be Kenya and that the fact that one of our neighbours has no self identity does not make us copy him. Long live the Matatu Culture and Kenyans.

    And God bless Kenya.

  • correction director the name matatu did not come from swahilli, it came from kikuyu coz the kikuyu man that started the business used to charge 3 shillings and people started calling them "matatu"....better research mate.

  • I was only allowed once to ride in a matatu by my parents when I lived in mombasa and I was probably 7 or so. That was the craziest thing ever.

  • Damn grew up riding these things from Section 3 to eastleigh! And ofcourse NUMBER 9! shout out to my number 9s, left some years back i miss this hope i can one day go back and hop on a number 9!
