WATCH IN HD~! ^_^

----------------------

Parasite is a short film that talks about how a man, with all the trouble in his life, goes from a 'normal' person, to a person who becomes crazy and cannot adapt to the harsh life of the city and his surroundings.

This was a group project done by myself, and three people from my class: Eleanor Barz, Eva Hung and Catherine Park. We all attend the University of Sydney, enrolled in the "Digital Video" unit.

Our task was to create a transformation film. The moment our lecturer set the task, we instantly thought of a person who goes from normal, to crazy. And that's how this film was made. I volunteered to act in this short film.

During filming, we discovered many ways on how to attempt this. Firstly, we decided we needed a 'calm before the storm' thing going on, so the best way was to film at the busy intersection at Town Hall in Sydney. So there I was, walking from corner to corner, flashbacking to the past where my life has taken a downturn. After thinking about the past, I take a look at the people around me and for a brief moment, I saw them differently... people looking weird to me. This was all filmed in one day, and we were happy on how it turned out.

The next part was filming in Martin Place. We chose this place because there was a lot of people around, and it would be a good opportunity for society to look at me. In other words, I had to grab their attention. In the end, with my acting, we didnt get a lot of reactions (mainly because they saw a camera being used) but at least the acting turned out right for us in my opinion. So here I am looking at society when all of a sudden, having enough of my surroundings, I see them differently, and I go into my crazy moments. From people looking at me differently to how I really view them, this was how we made the crazy part. If you also noticed, we filmed in two different places in Martin Place. We were going to film in the same place (two days of filming here), but on one of the days, some people had taken our spot, so we had to move a bit further.

Video editing was primarily done by me, with some help from Eva. Here, this was the first time I used a lot of effects in any video I have created so far. To me, this was like a 'trial' for future video projects (mainly Anime Music Videos). The reason why I didn't use a lot of effects in my previous videos was that I was no good in implementing them properly. In other words, I lacked imagination on how I could use it. But after some practice here, I'm getting the hang of it.

Along with the video "Method to my Madness" this was the first video I have made entirely on Final Cut Pro and Motion.

I give thanks to my three group members, Eva, Catherine and Eleanor for making this film possible. We did great guys!

I hope you enjoy it!
