In this video, I demonstrate how to make the 'restaurant style' roll of my dream. I have fond memories of eating a Luby's cafeteria when I lived in Texas. Their rolls were to die for. These rolls taste exactly like the ones they serve. Enjoy!

CLOVERLEAF DINNER ROLLS
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup water
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast

Heat milk and water until warm. Add yeast and stir. Let rest 5 minutes.

1 egg
3/4 cup vegetable oil ( lots of time I just use 1/2 a cup)
Stir egg and oil into milk/yeast mixture.

Combine:
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups flour

Stir wet mixture into dry. Stir until well combined, scrapeing edges of bowl until clean. Cover with a cloth and let rise for an hour away from drafts.

Grease muffin tin. Roll dough into approximately 1" balls. Place three balls in each muffin cup to form a cloverleaf. Cover and let rise about an 45-60 minutes, away from drafts.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place roll in preheated oven and bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top. Any leftover dough can be store in a covered container, in the refrigerator.

  • Girl, just tried these tonight for my husband's 50th birthday dinner. They are hands down the best, easiest, lightest rolls I have ever had the blessing to eat. I could have made a whole meal out of just them alone! Thank you, thank you, thank you a million times!

  • @d2parrotperson LOL...I loved reading your enthusiastic message. It made me smile because I know your rolls were delicious! Thanks for coming back and reporting your success. K

  • Thanks so much for the book recommendation. I saw this back when you posted it, and immediately went to Amazon and put it on my wishlist. Today I finally went to buy it and it's not available on Amazon anymore! I was bummed till I looked around and found it on half.com for 75 cents plus $3.00 shipping. Not bad! :) I'm excited to get it. Had to come thank you for letting me know about it.

  • @callmecordelia1 That's too weird...I just went and check Amazon and it says they have 30 used. Must have been a glitch in the system. I hope you like it. It's loaded with great information.

  • @katzcradul Oh that's strange! Oh well-- glad I found it anyway. I noticed in my search that she has a bean cookery book coming out next week. I ended up pre-ordering it because I'm always looking for a good bean cookbook. I hope it's good! I'll let you know!

  • @callmecordelia1 Can't wait to hear your review of the bean book.

  • @oodles5poodles Go to the very top of the Youtube page and type in the name and press 'enter'. It should pull up videos made by that person. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but this message didn't show-up in my inbox...I just stumbled upon it. Thanks for watching.

  • @bryncomeaux Wow! I had no idea a simple video on rolls would be so political. LOL You had me cracking up with the 'just shoot yourself'. OMG! I laughed so hard. Thanks for watching and commenting.
