Is there any way to get the 248u to display the elapsed time on the current song instead of the album/trackname? I went through the whole manual and can't figure it out. I've never had a head unit that didn't give me the option to show the time of day and/or elapsed time?!??!

@crutchfieldtv I'm pretty sure the first thing I did was hold 3, not put it in random folder mode, but I will give it a try nonetheless. Thanks for your advice!

@crutchfieldtv Thank you for your reply. Indeed those instructions work when everything is well installed. I found out the problem was generated by a mistake done with the cable connections. The technician who installed it fixed and now the unit is working perfectly. Thank you!

thats all? wtf!!!

@hondakseries Unfortunately, no. This model offers a display dimmer with two settings to adjust the brightness of the display according to the surrounding illumination. You can change this setting within the menu but it will not be affected by the factory illumination control. HTH!--Crutchfield

i have the same radio and i wanted to know if i hook up the illumination and dimmer wires will it work just like the factory radio did? (orange and blue)

@Logindudeproductions Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. Yes and Yes. While this model has been discontinued, it was compatible with all versions of the iPod Nano and iPod Touch. You will find a full compatibility chart for any iPod capable product under the "Details" tab for the product on the main Crutchfield website. does an ipod touch 1g or a ipod nano 3rd gen work with this unit. Like can i play music off it
-
@RapManDeliverin No, the USB input on this, and many other stereos, will support USB mass storage devices and Apple iPods/iPhones. While you may be able to charge your Android phone when connected to the USB port, you will not be able to control, display, and play music through the USB port. I’m sorry I don’t have better news for you there. You can use the Aux input for hearing any external audio source though the stereo. Does the usb ipod cord work for androids as well?

@squirt54321 Thanks

The 348U and the alpine CDA-105 both have 6 ch. preamp outputs. The 248 only has 2 ch outs, so it's out.
And you want a full car stereo recommendation which is something we don't have room to do in You Tube Comments, but it is something we do everyday for people. Go to the Crutchfield website and send us an email, or call us, or chat with us online.
Or you can just call us at 800 315 0030.
Thanks,

I have been looking to find a good stereo system for my 87 accord and i was wondering what is the difference between the 248U and the 348U? I read that having a 6 channel deck is good and wondered if the 348U had that? I hav my mind set on either one of these or the Alpine CDA-105. All i want is to hook my ipod up and the deck to be compatible with the following: amp, subs, speakers. Also what kind of amp, subs, and speakers do you recommend i get to accompany the deck?
Thanks.

@brandon13ellis When the single set of pre-amp outputs are used for a subwoofer, the stereo provides a “low pass” filter that can be set for 80Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, or OFF. This filter only affects the preamp outputs and not the internal amplification inside the unit itself. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030 --Crutchfield

do this head unit have high, mid, low pass filters on it

@BradS94 This is covered on page 11 in the Kenwood owner’s manual. Basically, you can control the iPhone either from the stereo or the iPhone, but not both at the same time. Simply press and hold the “iPod” button until the iPod control menu appears and select “Hands On” for control on the iPhone and “Hands Off” for control from the stereo. 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

when I have my iphone plugged in the usb I cant go through my itunes. It just says accessory connected. Does anyone know if i can change this?
-
@crutchfieldtv Ok, thanks. i will try that.

Sorry to hear your's isn't doing that, it's supposed to according to my info, but I didn't have a step by step set of commands for you to use to get Artist and song title to show up on your Kenwood.
You might try calling Kenwood tech support at 800-536-9663 x1 .
Hope that helps,

Small issue with this unit, I keep getting the same songs over and over again when I put it on random mode (hold 3).
I use a 32GB flash drive formatted in FAT32. It takes a small selection of songs from a small selection of artists (I'm guessing somewhere around 50 out of 5000) and randomly shuffles through them. Even if I unplug it, shut the unit off, and plug it back in it still plays exactly the same songs. Any idea how to fix this?

@onbeskoftekinkel The "All Random" option is only applicable if "Random Off" is selected initially. In other words, be sure the random option is set to "off" before pressing and holding the "3" button to engage the "All Random" mode. HTH!--Crutchfield

is this easy to install in a 2003 VW golf?
shaggy4847 2 weeks ago
@shaggy4847 It should be an easier install. There are no modifications needed to get it to go into the dash. We even have our MasterSheet instructions for the vehicle to help you get the original radio out. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

How do you deactivate the demo mode on a kenwood kdc-208u? Tried selecting Demo Off but next time I turn unit on it goes back to teh demo mode.
fireeagleone 3 weeks ago
@fireeagleone Press the volume knob to enter FUNCTION. Turn the volume knob to select DEMO MODE, then press to enter. Turn the volume knob to select OFF. Hold the return key (looks like an arrow pointing back to its tail), found on the left hand side of the receiver, to finish the procedure. HTH!--Crutchfield
