Fix the Budget: http://dft.ba/-58L Pizza shirts: http://dftba.com/pizza

Amsterdam gathering: THIS Thursday at 4:30 PM at De Nieuwe Boekhandel (Bos en Lommerweg 227, Amsterdam)

Vienna reading/signing: Monday, Nov. 22nd, at 5 PM at the Literaturhaus Wien (Seidengasse 13 1070 Vienna)

In which John discusses the New York Times's web-based application allowing each of us to examine the extent and complexity of the United States federal budget deficit and the difficulty of balancing the budget. Do we increase taxes or cut spending? Or, more plausibly but less politically viable, both raise taxes and lower spending? Also there is some talk of pizza shirts.

Thanks to Karen Kavett for the graphics: http://www.youtube.com/xperpetualmotion

  • I think I solved it; Why don't we just take Bikini Bottom, and push it somewhere else. Mars maybe.

  • I shall now call paper, "thinly sliced trees."

  • "Is that....you?"

    "Yes. Yes it is."

  • I did it and it wasn't even that hard. A lot of the things I selected are already in place in my country. I don't think any american would like what I did though but really, not that hard.

  • The best I can do without making a lot of people angry is reduce the shortage to $108 billion for 2015. 67% of the savings was done by increasing taxes. Ha, this is why I'll never be a president.

  • @TRusty499 and I also avoided raising the retirement age, it just would seem too cruel towards people who have been working for around 50 years

  • @dftba9690 Well yeah, cutting back on nuclear armaments spending was just easy savings for me. I think most of my savings came from upper class tax increases

  • @TRusty499 I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with cutting military spending, I was just illustrating that there are so many other ways to go about doing. Also, there's more to military spending than just nuclear stuff

  • @dftba9690 what's so bad about cutting military spending? I cut a bunch of nuclear stuff that is actually not necessary for defence anway

  • and... zefrank reference for the win (newspaper)
