Aw, that's so sweet! One of my favorite critters playing a tune from one of my favorite bands. Rats are very sweet and intelligent pets; this one has been trained well!

I'm sure this cute experiment will be warmly received by cash-strapped researchers and anti-vivsectionists all over the world!

Thanks, Alessandro. This is an example of what you can do with pure and basic behavior analysis: Shaping, differential reinforcement, intermittent reinforcement, and then attaching different sounds to each lever and the programming of a tune as a specific sequence of lights. Originally, the rats participated in an experiment on a “Continuous Repertoire,” but it was too tempting to give them a musical break when stimulus control was close to perfect. They are now back in the original experiment.
