A 100% automated robotic arm that shorts a pile of randomly aranged colored cubes. The cubes are finally shorted in a (black - blue - yellow) pattern, with the black cube on the bottom. The arm is made out of scrap materials (wood, PC power supply etc...). The arm is programmed in PBasic, and the microcontroller used for the task is a Basic Stamp 2.

  • wow slow down so that was controled all by a computer? gezz

  • @bigbobgotu Not Even by a computer! My laptop is in the background for fast access to the robot if needed. All the code was uploaded to an "on board" microcontroller running at 20MHz.

  • No offense man but I don't want that thing doing my open heart surgery!

Your control system looks OK although some acceleration\deceleration ramps would probably be good. But the biggest problem is the lack of rigidity in your arms supports, its all over the shop. Its still very cool though, well done.

    Hi,

Thank you for commenting. This was a low cost (100$) project of mine, intended to demonstrate that cool robotics can be done with things that can be found everywhere and not only expensive (and less creative) robotics kits. Indeed, the robot lacks of a robust structure, but considering the fact that this was made inside my bedroom, I could not have used any aluminum, custum made parts.
