I only have eyes for you by Eddy Duchin and his Orch recorded in 1934. Sung by Lew Sherwood (no photo). The song was written by Harry Warren in 1934, and lyrics by Al Dublin. The song was written in 1934 for the move Dames starring Dick Powell Eddy Duchin began his music career with Leo Reisman's orchestra at the Central Park Casino in New York, an elegant nightclub where he became hugely popular in his own right and eventually became the Reisman orchestra's leader by 1932. He became widely popular thanks to regular radio broadcasts that boosted his record sales, and he was one of the earliest pianists to lead a commercially successful large band. Duchin would often use beautiful soft-voiced singers like Durelle Alexander and Lew Sherwood to accommodate his sweet and romantic songs, giving them extra appeal and making them more interesting. His marvelous taste in vocalists is perhaps his most underrated talent.
Eddy Duchin died at age 41 in New York City of acute myelogenous leukemia.

According to his son, Rabbi John Sherwood, who contacted me recently, your uncle Lew Sherwood was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1903, and died in Washington, D.C. in 1971. His body is buried at the Lincoln Park Cemetery in Providenc, R.I. (so perhaps this is the confusion?).

@Rudipolt Lew Sherwood was my uncle - my mother's older brother. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island. probably about 1902 - but I'm not sure of the tear. He fought cancer, but passed away in 1971 .He was a fine man who is survived by a son from his first marriage and a daughter from his second. Mike Altman

Eddie Duchin's version of Moon Over Miami was a classic and Lew's vocal was a large part of its success, IMHO. Thank you for these great recordings. MUCH appreciated!
