MORE MODEL ENGINES : http://www.youtube.com/user/rapmoz/vi...
Vintage british Davies Charlton Dart marine engine. I run it very rich because it can 't be water cooled : there is a leak in the water jacket that floods the carb...

Hi, I have just got hold of DC marine spitfire diesel on ebay, i don't doubt it wont run, it has good compression, it looks very much like your dart, your fuel tank is brass or metal mine is clear plastic, also can you tell me why they have the two prongs protruding from the flywheel?, i have had many nitro marine and aero engines but diesel scares the hell out of me, do yo turn the jet needle 2 1/2 turns out like nitro?, also how many turn of the compression screw should i do on first start

Hello Gary, the prongs are a part of the DC"u-joint", they are designed to connect with an other piece on the prop shaft.

About the settings, sorry I don't remember them, try 2 turns on the needle and a "sweet" compression ratio, then refine them when the engine begins to run. Good luck!

I would have thought you would need a header tank for water as it is water cooled. The water pickiup for these were behind the prop of the model boat...also it is real easy to over speed these little jems with only a flywheel and no work to do. Do you still have the water jacket?

Hello, you're right, also I have explained just above in the description why the engine was not water cooled.

Since this video, I have purchase a job lot of water jackets for various british diesel (Mills,DC,AM,...) changed the bad one and still have 2 other W.C. Dart heads for sale (NOT the faulty one !!) $14shipping worldwide included.

I can send a photo. ...Chris

Hello, thanks but I prefer to keep it : I just have for sale an extra brass water cooled head for this model (and some other for various british diesel's) just ask.

Anyway, these Dart are not rare on eBay... good luck!

NOOOOOO - that is combusted fuel, this is running SO rich - it's wet fuel running straight through it, and most oils have VERY high autoignition temperatures, so as long as the parts it's flowing over and the volume and temperature of the gasses it's being blown out the exhaust by are not hot enough - there is NO FUCKING way to light it up, except for the tiny amounts that atomise in the combustion chamber under HIGH compression.

Hence it's an oil pumping motor, pumping oil.

Thanks for the answer. I take the same recept for making the fuell. Maybe I need to work on the tank height. But I don't like startmotors....When there is too much fuell in the cilinder you may have a lock & breaks the piston rod. My biggest Diesel is a 10cc. And when he hit...He hits very hard onto my fingers.

Also is it better to put a amount of amylnitrate in the fuell , but that I can not found here in Belgium.
