A ride on a 1989 Orion 01.508 CNG owned by York University. This bus uses the Cummins L10G engine to a ZF 4HP500 transmission. The ride is from York University Commons to the GO station.
This bus was originally built as one of two compressed natural gas (CNG) demonstrators for the Government of Ontario. It originally ran for GO Transit as 1714 and as TTC 9361 prior to the acquisition by York University. It's sister unit was acquired by Brandon Transit in Manitoba and was converted to run on diesel.
I believe the other one which went to Brandon Transit in MB had its original ZF tranny replaced with a Voith one.

I can remember our (HSR's) 1991 Orion V CNGs having that very same powerplant. They were a staple on the 2 Barton in their late life, as there was a mural on Barton to prove it.

Oh my!! I remember riding that bus when it ran in Calgary back in 1994-95 as CT #8510. This brings back memories!
