Peak oil is debated all the time. However as most things it is finite. Mankind has looked pretty hard to find what he can. The places they go and depths they dig seem to say to me that easy oil is over. That could also mean that peak oil has happened or might soon happen. Get the math from Dr Albert Bartlet. Peak Oil does not mean running out of oil. Don't let a naysayer tell you that. There's still a well in Shanksville, PA pumping out 1-2 pints of oil per day. Peak Oil means the end of cheap oil ie further resource scarcity and in turn higher prices. Those higher prices are what can collapse an entire global economy.

well if peak oil is true its time to look for alternatives or maybe go back to old methods of living on the basics! I dont think were gonna starve if we do our own production using old techniques.

@darkultra To bad your battery was charged with oil and then made out plastic. Each tire for a small car takes 7 gallons of oil to make it. All of the insides such as your dash are plastic or rubber (oil). All the insulation for all the wiring in your car is made form oil.

Every american should have the same level of passion for this kind of stuff as michael and the people he is talking to. As americans, most of us willingly buy all the bull shit the media feeds us accepting it as fact without looking any further. We pay taxes for a 600 billion dollar a year military/defense and you are (american gov't) telling me we can't defend the most economically important buildings in america???? really?
