tricky question:
how would I be able to reflect an island or a boat or any other 3D object on the water?
cubemaps only work when the object(s) being reflected are far away, the mirror technique is very inaccurate when you have displacement, and completly fails when there is to much displacement, raytracing eats framerate...
are there any reflection methods?

amazing effect! it runs smooth on my engine:) what do i need to configure to change the water alpha value? (being able to see through the water)

Just set the alpha blend properties before you draw it and put them back after.
