The Pet Shop Boys Glastonbury 2010 (New York City Boy) & (West End Girls)

The British pop veterans, playing the event for the first time in 10 years, performed Chris Martin and co's 'Viva La Vida' as part of their hit-laden set on the Other Stage.

The elaborate stage show included dancers with cardboard boxes on their heads and, during a New York-themed part of the set, the same performers wore costumes made to resemble some of the city's big landmarks.

Among the classics performed were the band's four UK Number One singles -- set opener 'Heart', 'Always On My Mind', 'It's A Sin' and the closing 'West End Girls'

"West End Girls" - Neil, "We arrived in the studio and Bobby O had programmed M Jackson's Billie Jean drum pattern. Chris started to play along and I started playing chords. The inspiration for the lyrics came from The Message by Grandmaster Flash. I remembered watching a gangster film with James Cagney, when the lines 'sometimes you're better off dead, there's a gun in your hand and it's pointing to your head' came into my head and I thought 'that's quite good' so I went off to find a pen."
