  • can you print on black or colored shirt?

  • @canuckchris2010 The Brother GT-541 is designed to print to white and light-colored garments that are cotton or a cotton/polyester blend. The Brother GT-541 DTG Printer does not use a white ink, so it cannot print to black or dark-colored garments.

If you are looking for a DTG system to print to black and dark-colored garments, you need to look at the Brother GT-782 DTG Printer (available now) or the Brother GT-361 / GT381 "GraffiTees" DTG Printers (available Spring 2012).

  • how many prints can you do with one cartridge?

  • @paticoalfer777 Your artwork will vary from job to job. From Brother International:

Brother took (4) 220cc ink cartridges and the Brother GT-541. They printed an image with a uniform coverage of CMYK; total 0.456cc of ink per print. With new cartridges they averaged 1,928 prints per cartridge set.

A Brother GT-541 printer will tell you the amount of ink it will use to generate your print. Therefore, you can always calculate your exact cost per print.

  • That's awesome. How much is the printer?

  • @berighteous $16,995.00 is MSRP

  • @twilyumz Each cartridge hold the same amount of ink (measured in cubic cm). Each cartridge costs the same amount. So, you can take the capacity of a cartridge (cc) and divide by the cost of a single ink cartridge to get the cost per cc of ink ($/cc). The Brother GT-541 calculates the sum of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black ink used to generate your design. Take the sum of ink used and multiply by your cost per cc of ink ($/cc) to get your cost to generate your print.

  • In your equation, was the cost of all cartridges being factored in or was it just one? If one cartridge cost 200 then for all four it will be 800 and the cost of one print would be 1.42. and will use 1.56cc of ink. right?

  • @Mostajed The current Brother direct-to-garment systems are the GT-541 (4-color / CMYK) and the GT-782 (5-color / CMYK + white). I am not aware of any other systems that are using more than four process colors. That stated, you might want to contact Kornit and see if their direct-to-garment systems will meet your needs.

  • good video, what if I need a better color quality (more & better colors), what unit would you advise me you use, and what's it's cost?
