Only a few years before her time spent with our beloved agents/actors Don Adams, Ed Platt, Bernie Kopell, Dick Gautier, etc..., she was a model and a commercial actress. This commercial for Top Brass Dandruff prevention was what people recalled of her early days in acting. Though the commercial is only about a minute long, it may have been the inspiration for her character when writers Mel Brooks and Buck Henry were creating 99.

Somehow Barbera Feldon manages to roll around on lionskin rugs with a beehive hairdoo, a Jackie Kennedy suit, and STILL come off as sexy!

Barb also appeared as an UNCLE employee before being cast as 99 on GET SMART.

Her career seemed to stall after Get Smart, so one can only assume she was type-cast.

Barbara was a very charming guest star on The Man from UNCLE during its first season, and played a part not unlike Agent 99. It was no doubt this role, not the Top Brass commercial, that led to her casting as 99.

Actually, in several interviews with Barbara and various creators, this commercial is credited as being what got her the part. I believe if you look up the video that TVLEGENDS has on thier channel, it's mentioned on there as well as in several other interviews. :)
The character of 99 was certainly not based on this commercial, but it is how she got cast... weird, huh? =)
