March 2010 - Jeremy Freedman makes history and goes 208.1mph in his Mk3 VW GTI. The car is estimated over 800whp and was built with the help of Dubsquared and T1 Race Development. See the full feature in the June '10 issue of eurotuner Magazine.

  • @Artschi100 Well how strange, In the united states, Mexico, Brazil and other countries the GTI MK3 came with two engines, a 2.0L 4 cylinders and also the VR6 engine.

  • the 2.0 never deserved to be called GTI, the VR6 had roughly the same performance as most contemporary hot hatches so how did the same car with about 55% of the power get the right to be given the legendary name?

    No, VR6 is GTI. It's called GTI VR6. You are right about R32 though, that's a standalone model.

  • @PernellDD the MK3 GTI came in 2.0 8v and 2.0 16v, and the 2.8 VR6

  • @PernellDD The VR6 isn't a GTI. It's another model. Like the R32 isn't a GTI. The GTI is the original "top power package". But they brought in the VR6 and later the R32 to go even further...
