This is a time-lapse video I created showing ice cubes melting and several types of Candles burning, with a large clock in the background.
Once all the candles have burnt away you can see the video played backwards extra fast.

As you can see those red scented tea light candles are rubbish, the wick burns down but leaves a great ring of untouched wax.
The twisty birthday candles at the front of the tray last only 18 minutes.

Don't ask me why I created this, its just a silly video demonstrating how time lapse photography allows you to speed up time.
I used a Canon Ixus 430 attached to a Pc running PSRemote, Taking a photograph every 10 seconds.

Warning : Dont try this at home unless you have a nice safe area to work with and you are able to keep an eye on it.
Candles can fall over, as I saw for myself before I even lit them.

Hope you enjoy this daft little video I made.

Hi-Def version video....

  • Liked it but if I were you I would've made sure the whole thing was as simmetric as possible since it adds so much estetic value to the whole. I am a perfectionist, yeah :)

I've started looking into time lapse photography myself and find it very interesting. I only have one video myself, done with a compact camera, no tripod and annoying uneven lighting, but hey, gotta start from somewhere right ?

  • @TheUnchainedMind Hi, I did not pay much attention to the layout just wanted to make sure the candles did not fall over and burn the house down !

Checked out your video, not bad for a 1st attempt, yes you must use a tripod, fix the exposure time and use some software to take the photos rather than doing it yourself.

Have a look at the rest of my time-lapse videos if your interested, I have made quite a few on here.

  • why you folks can`t reset clocks to 00.00 ? (btw i actually was excited how precise 10 second timing - loooks great as perfect hexagon in last part)

  • I started recording it at 630pm simple as that!

Yes pretty accurate timing as its software based time capture.
