The Hollyridge Strings was a catchall name for the group of largely interchangeable studio musicians who recorded a series of easy listening instrumental albums for Capitol Records at the peak of the British Invasion era.

  • Thanks to all my 'crew' who've weighed in on this beauty! See my comment way down at the bottom here. This is in the style of Percy Faith.

The sound of 'Hollyridge' comes from the imagination of brilliant LA arranger/producer Stu Phillips.

To hear more of Hollyridge strings, here's a shortcut. After you comment and ***** on this video, use searchbar at top of page and type in chkjns hollyridge.

  • @Autepliax ok

  • LOL!! Have been looking for HS stuff for DECADES. Thanks! :)

FYI,saw downloadable sites for 3 HS albums (but this song is NOT on the "Best

    Of" Hollyridge Strings.)

On CAPITOL Records....lol...it figures....HS riffs, ironically, are as good as anything

George Martin (or even David McCallum) could come up with! LEGENDARY!!

I must have heard this on a Houston,TX radio station (maybe KXYZ-FM) growing

    up in the mid-Sixties...

  • @letseeitplease This is the Rosetta Stone - Stu Phillips' FIRST track from his FIRST Hollyridge Strings album under his new 1964 artist contract at Capitol! By November of 1964 Stu had THREE Hollyridge albums in the Cash Box Top 100, covering the Beatles, Beach Boys and Four Seasons!

Stu got approval for these albums from Capitol's head honcho in just TEN MINUTES - they knew a winning idea by a winning producer/arranger/conductor !!! I'm supposed to MEET Stu in just 3 weeks! YIPPEEEEE!!

  • Sort of sounds like Horst Jankowski on piano!

  • @The096757 I sent you my orchestral favorites playlist. Best of Hollyridge? That's my playlist for them with 92 songs on it now, thanks to autepliax & all the others kind enough to post the music! I can't think of a bad song they ever did. Stu Phillips was too class of an act with his arrangements! My 550 playlists include over 30 of the best orchestral pop musicians in the timeframe you mention, probably over 2000 songs! Chuck

  • @chkjns

can you recommend a best of hollyridge strings cd? i love the sound of many instrumentals from the 50s to 1980s.

  • i love this sound. it is played on sirius radio's "escape" channel sometimes. even instumental music made after the 1980s does not sound good.

i can't watch tv or commericials because of the background music.

  • whos the milf?
