Lulley, lully, lulley, lully,
The faucon hath born my mak away.
He bare hym up, he bare hym down,
He bare hym into an orchard brown.
In that orchard ther was an hall,
That was hanged with purpill and pall.
And in that hall ther was a bede,
Hit was hangid with gold so rede.
And yn that bed ther lythe a knyght,
His wowndes bledyng day and nyght.
By that bedes side ther kneleth a may,
And she wepeth both nyght and day.
And by that bedes side ther stondith a ston,

  • This song is so beautiful, that makes me cry so often ! Who is singing ? Very good interpretation from this boy !

  • @nickast31 It's Ted Huffman. Together with Stephen van Dyck he formed the 'Treble Boys' and in 1993 recorded the CD 'The Treble Boys - Wonder Solos and Duets for Boy Soprano', still available in the shops.

  • Since i heard Jeff Buckleys version i love this piece!!!

  • JESUS CHRIST! I Cant believe you lot are arguing over this now...Yeh, its very, very old and this is obviously not the original. How do I know that? Errr, cos there was no recording equipment available in the 16th century! This is a 20th century rendition of one of Britten's best loves tunes...ok?

  • Too beautiful to be true

  • OMG what a beautiful song!

  • @jimkirk363 : "Britten's work" means that the author was Britten. The lyrics was written in 1504 and not music.

  • @scantpiper yes but the original was written in 1504

  • @jimkirk363 : I've just searched on Wikipedia and so is said: " Singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley included his interpretation of Britten's work on his debut 1994 album, Grace." Therefore: "interpetation by Jeff Buckley" and "Britten's work"...I think it's clear.

  • @jimkirk363 : music by Britten, lyrics by anonymous from 1500. Benjamin Britten was a composer of XX century. Jeff Buckley had arranged this composition in own way.

    However it's all right, guy.

  • This was written around 1504 while this maybe an original version this person did its not he original song... just search the song name on Wikipedia

  • @scantpiper The original would have been sung in the 1500's !! Get your facts right. These are versions not originals.
