I dislike my first version of this great tune, so here's take 2. I realized I'd been playing one of the chords wrong for thirty years; I stand corrected. Full title: Sun Gonna Shine in My Backdoor Someday Blues

  • I know what chord you're talking about, but i like the first version nevertheless(hope it stays). But that's what's good about it: each take being unique. Have you thought of doing covers on any of the following: John Henry Variations, When Springtime Comes Again, Sligo Mud, The Yellow Princess? Some of them have dissonant chords which is a very interesting line in Fahey's repertiore, with Sun Gonna Shine being itself a bright example.

Look me up according to the following search: Delta Slider Charlie Schmidt. There you will find a link to a remarkable article about Fahey and me, as well as a free download of my extended version of When the Springtime Comes Agian, and more. Thanks for your comments. Charlie

  • Thanks, Bud! John was a little more strange, but not by much. Good work.

  • Charlie...Hiowdy! Sure was great to meet you after all these years! Love the new suite...in open G minor? I forget...Anyways...always loved this Fahey gem..John never played any of his old stuff when I met him...too bad...he has so many classics! Cheers! Blind Brand X.

  • @specialrider54 Standard tuning.

  • That tune is this? you have the tab? congratulations anyway. Ciao

  • Great job. That's one I would like to learn. What tuning is it in?

  • SPOT ON! Nicely done. I am closely watching your videos - esp your left hand - in hopes that I can play those JF tunes as half as well as you.

  • I really enjoy this version as well as your other Fahey covers. Used to play this myself til it wrecked my thumb joint. By the way, which album was "Hymn" taken from?
