Rebuilt 305. Having problems keeping it going once it starts. Not sure how to adjust my Quadrajet properly.
Try to disregard the wind noise when listening for idle speed.

  • In this video the problem was the timing. It was too far retarded. After fidling around with it the engine ran like a champ. Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. Not quite sure what it could be. The car has been parked during the winter, and now it really struggles under load, and backfires when going up hills givng it part throttle at low rpm. A bit more advancing has helped. Could be timing or ignition, could be a vacuum leak or the egr. I'll start by replacing above mentioned parts.

  • sorry didnt read the discrition... there is alot to tuning a q-jet... one of the reasons they were not a favorit but once u understand and can tune a q-jet. they are great

  • sounds like ur timing is off, and prob u quadrajet isnt tuned correctly

  • what ended up being wrong with it? thats how my truck sounds
