Katheryn Nipp - 6th Grade Science Project

In order to conduct the experiment, we first built a working micro-hydroelectric dam.

The purpose of this experiment is to determine how the height of the water intake of the penstock affects how much energy the turbine creates.

Dams can be built with all different heights and engineers that build dams need to decide how high to place the opening for the penstock to generate the most energy from the turbine and cut down on the need for fossil fuels.
