The tip to add the concrete dry is an excellent one. I couldn't use braces to keep the post in place. I put in about half the amount of cement and added water. The wet cement was viscous enough to keep the post level. I then added more cement and water, checking each time for level. BTW, remember the height specs are from the STREET, not the base of the post. Add the curb height in your calculations.

@paulyhart Well it went true to form. I assembled the mailbox cross-support upside down. Then couldn't figure out why some predrilled holes didn't match up...because I had it upside down. So I drilled NEW holes to make it work only to discover I had really 'screwed' it up. I had to go back to home depot several times looking for screws to fit the messed holes holes I had redrilled. I went back to home depot so many times that I started avoiding the same cashiers I was so embarrassed.
