I read an interview where Lis said that she was pleased and grateful to be remembered. Such a down-to-Earth and modest person. How could anyone forget her? I wonder if she realized just how truly loved she was and still is.

The Whoniverse will never be the same without her and I still can't believe she's gone.

Her autobiography is coming out real soon, Amazon.com still lists it as not released yet. It's called "Who's That Girl?".

Song by Talis Kimberley. You can buy it at the link below for 1 pound or about $1.50 USD with all proceeds being donated to cancer research: http://taliskimberley.bandcamp.com/track/goodnight-sarah-jane

  • Awwww, this is wonderful, NineCatz. Brings up the loss and sadness again, though. I'm a mid-50's guy and I don't cry, but I did for Lis. Surprised me, to feel such loss for someone I've never met. Elisabeth Sladen was very, very special, as all the wonderful comments here & elsewhere show.

For me the WHO "Golden Age" at its peak was LIS SLADEN, with Pertwee and Baker.

Her personality lit the screen to a degree I've rarely seen anyone else achieve.

  • @63DW89A It still brings tears to my eyes too.....She was such a special person. I loved her back in, as you call it, and I agree, the "WHO Golden Age" and she was fantastic in the new series and her own too. I got back into DW because of one person....Lis Sladen. When I found out she was going to guest on an epi of the new series, I was beside myself happy......

  • Unusual photos of Lis and Jon Pertwee in 1983 (I would guess !). Where did you get them from ? Would like to see more !

  • @trickstick84 If you're referring to the pic at 00:24, I took that pic along with all the pics from 00:08 to the Red Nose Day Pic back in 1983 and 1984. I met her at 3 different conventions, 2 in Chicago, IL (1983 & in 1984 when she was pregnant) and once in Mobile, AL in 1983 which was my first convention and I drove 14 hours one way to AL just to see her.

  • Read a comment from a man who was an 8-year-old-boy in the early 80's writing to the 15 stars listed in the back of a Marvel Dr Who comic. Only Lis Sladen sent him a handwritten letter and signed picture back, and she paid the postage herself to the U.S. There are many other similar comments about Lis posted in untold thousands of web messages since her sad passing.

Lis Sladen was genuine and it showed in Sarah Jane. She was deeply loved and her loss is felt by all aware of her.

  • @glnelson1956 Just proves what a wonderful person she truly was.
