we live in the desert and have a crepe myrtle(zuni) in the front yard that has bloomed every year. We had a very harsh winter this year, coldest in 30 years, and looking at the tree, it has black wood on some of the branches, but the trunk is the usual color. I know they are resilient to most cold, but I think it has had a real shock this winter. Is the black wood dead wood? It is now end of may and I know it doesn't usually bloom until late June/july. How do I know if its dead?
@Bigjohnnywad Hi i have a crepe myrtle. you can get them as a bush. just don't prune the blisters off or remove any of the lower branches and you will have a beautiful flowering shrub in your gardening space.
Thanks for the video. This is awesome. The phone number to the Gardening Center depicted in this video enabled me to call this place directly and they answered my questions about my Crepe Myrtle right on the spot. Your awesome dude!
Hi, I was wondering if there are any varieties of this tree that can be grown in a small yard space. The space I have is about 8 foot wide by 8 foot long. The height of it is not a factor.
If there is not a tree like this.
What other small trees can you tell me that would grow in a space like this.
I live in Southern California so the weather is good almost year around.
I am looking for something that is a flowering tree with bright colors for the small space.
Great info.
Thanks.
