Crossbows are great but they require quite a bit of maintenance. They tend to stretch cables and strings. They can be tough on string servings. Although the cables and strings were changed not too long ago, the end-loop servings are flattening out and one is broken. That leads to a repair. In the process of fixing that, I come across the need to reinstall the strings. That is where "cam timing" or "bow timing" comes into play.
It is a small detail (some parts kinda hard to shoot with a camera) but it makes a difference. Some crossbows like this old Tenpoint Stealth X2, are made with headscrews long enough that the bowstring and cabels can be changed without a bowpress. Not all are. It is good to know BEFORE one attempts to turn them out too far. One always has the choice of calling the manufacturer and checking first. Some manufacturers may recommend or even require the limbs be turned out prior to pressing to reduce torque on them while in the bowpress. Again, it is good to check with the manufacturer if there is any doubt.
An interesting film. Do many people use the crossbow to hunt? It seem an uncommon weapon but unique. Great film

@KMK39 - Thank you, it depends on the state and local regulations. Many states do not allow them except for the disabled. I think North Carolina and I know new york restrict ownership for some odd reason. I believe Ohio, Georgia and Tennessee (others I'm sure) allow them during archery season of big game (deer, bear, turkey, feral hog).
Crossbows take less time to become effective for most people than vertical bows like compound, recurve and long. As a result, some may say more humane.

They can be controversial in that there is sometimes a stigma that they are a "poacher's" weapon of choice. That is of course untrue. Others don't consider them challenging enough and view them a "cheating" or "taking the easy road". They shoot arrows too, shorter and called bolts but arrows none the less which are just as subject to God's laws of nature (wind, gravity, sound, weight, strength of materials, etc).
Crossbows are good for the disabled, the young and old.

They are good for the disabled, the young and old because they can be cocked ahead of time. And they allow for an introduction to archery, I have know several women that shot crossbows. No doubt, most don't - logically because crossbows have been highly restricted up until the last few years. And there too are guys that prefer them.
