They said they were influencied by The Manual a book made by klf on how to get a number 1 song. But looking at their songs, many have a 40s, 50s and 60s feeling on it and the manual said to not get stuff from the past because getting stuff from the past is a hit and miss, mostly a miss.

Why in the world do people think that this song is about drugs or a new wave band? Yes, ecstasy is a word that's been used before, and XTC is a cute way of spelling that word. That doesn't mean that every usage of the word "ecstasy" is some kind of code.
