Another project from a bygone era...
While I don't want this piece to be interpreted as representing any of my views on anything, I can't pretend it wasn't fun as hell to work on. It was politically incorrect, offensive, and hilarious.

The concept, writing, and voice acting are all credited to these guys: Jack Berno and Josh Taylor. They put together a pitch for a TV comedy cartoon, but neither of them were artists... So how could they get some animation in their pitch?

...That's where I came in. David Lillie. Artist. Rogue. Freelancer for Hire, selling my pencils to the highest bidder, without a flicker of remorse.

I had a comrade in arms - but, with the deadline a week away, found myself left out in the cold, with no help, and the due date sweeping forward like a guillotine. That's where Liz found me.

With her help, we were able to get an extraordinary amount of work done in a short time - the result is certainly rough around the edges, but here it is!

The show was never picked up. (Actually, I don't even know that they ever actually pitched it.) So this youtube clip is likely the first, and last, you'll ever see of Hard Crime. Based on your tolerance for offensive material, I'll let you decide whether that's a good or a bad thing.

  • i love it!

  • It was offensive, rude, and crude, but look where that got South Park. Though I particularly love offensive material.

  • WTF! LMAO

  • N*GGERS?! *epic slap*

  • SPARTA!! Slap-the-old-man-style!

  • Wow. That was messed up. XD I kinda like the part where the guy gets slapped by the chief for saying the n-word. He should've known better.

I am rather glad this didn't make it though. The city just across the river from me is named Moorhead, and I don't think they would've appreciated this cartoon.

  • I'm glad carl finally found a job.

  • That was funny as heck. Man there's quite a lot of offensive material in there... XXD

But what amazes me most is how you and Liz were able to finish the rest of the animation pitch on time! I liked the animation style and such, I'll need to find out what program you guys used to create it!

Anyways I'll save my questions for my next e-mail catch-up, thanks for posting this! It was entertaining and informative regarding your background in past animation works! *thumbs up*

  • Desk birth is a scary thing

  • at first i was thinking "oh man dave, your not making stupid comedy show with the same style of writing that spams adult swims animation"

then i thought "nice, this is actually kind of funny"

and finally i thought "o.O wtf"

i give the idea a 4/5, nothing amazing but pretty good and sort of original
