wow deja-vu is rite own time here! i wuz standing out on a baseball field and this kid ivan wuz singing this one and i remember i went home and heard it on WGRT chicago's soul station back in good ole 1970. this is one of the best soul tunes of all time. and mikeyboy dont lie. sho nuff yall.

Another great post. Strong Soul from Shama and Syl Johnson. 'Extra Plus' and 'Do It Like Mama' should have been national hits. They may have been too Soulful for the market or the distribution and A&R didn't work.

That's the main reason why Simtec & Wylie left Johnson/Shama to sign with Gene Chandler's Mr. Chand label. They felt that Chandler could help them get that Pop success that he was enjoying at the time with "Groovy Situation". The album was pretty good too,but in my opinion,they lost their funky grit and edge when they left Shama. At least the backing band kept on chuggin' after S&W broke up as the Southside Movement. They would regain much of their funkiness. They were formerly the T-Boxes band.
