Visit to the New Philippine Embassy Chancery
Brunei Darussalam
01 June 2011

President Benigno S. Aquino III unveiled the commemorative marker of the new Philippine Embassy Chancery, located at the entrance of the Diplomatic Enclave on Jalan Kebangsaan.

The Chancery, which was designed by the world-renowned Palafox and Associates of the Philippines, is raised on a 1.1744-hectare lot and is the first embassy to be given approval by the Brunei government to be built in the Diplomatic Enclave. Its design is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) compliant, which means it is energy efficient and is environment friendly. Front line offices of the new embassy include the Consular, Assistance to Nationals, Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Pag-Ibig.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the US$2.5 million chancery was held on 16 April 2010. Then Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Alexander Yano, Director Sheikh Fadllah of Brunei's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Edel Bartholomew, President of the Filipino Association in Brunei, were among those who shoveled the first concrete mixture in its foundation.
