  • Have you read Tolkien's essay abou all this?

  • no i haven't, any idea were i could find it? Sure he does a better job of it than me. Thanks.

  • It is an interesting point, but I think it needs further explaining, as the first point that comes to my mind is, couldn't the NT have been written (made up) to fulfill and further explain the OT testament themes? If so how then does it prove the bible true?

  • Hi thanks for you comment a, really good point. The passage in numbers that i have looked at here, can actually be dated as it was one of the manuscripts found in the Dead Sea Scrolls (some Scrolls found outside jeruselem hidden by some jews before the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70) some of which date back as far as 300 years BC. s

  • One of the oldest booksdatedwas the book of Isaiah which when studied isriddled with these types of shadows i talk about. Also other historian such as josephus mention Jesus to have lived around 30AD. so the dates are historically fixed in place. and are agreed on by most historian

  • in those times these people where given guidence to write by God for us that we may study and learn and believe for "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Tim. 3:16). you can question all things in life and find the answer in the bible

  • or amanueses rather (for God was the real Author), were drawn from every class of society. Kings, statesmen, priests, laymen, scholars, shepherds, fishermen and others co-operated in its production. One man wrote one part in Syria, another man wrote in Arabia, a third man wrote in Italy, a fourth man wrote in Babylon, and so on. which is why there are many links between old and new with a common message for us all about Gods plan and his Son.

  • not only can these findings back up the bible , but the bible was already telling us before scrolls or anything has was found that the bible is made up of 66 books , 39 OT, 27 NT,written over a period of about 1,500 years OT originally written in Hebrew and NT wriiten in Greek not to mention its many various authors,

  • Was really good Tom =D

  • An excellent explanation Tom, well done.
