James Hill and Melanie Doane entertain the crowd at the premiere of the documentary The Mighty Uke in Toronto, January 28th, 2010.

Melanie is an especially welcome guest, as her father is J. Chalmers Doane, the man responsible for creating the music education program that teaches with ukuleles. Starting in the 70s and over the decades, thousands of Canadians have been taught music though our happy little jumping flea. Were you taught ukulele in grade 4? You can thank Chalmers Doane.

Melanie and her family have a fond affection for the uke, and her beautiful voice was a real treat.
