SLOW MOTION

The only beauty I can discern
it's in the darkness
that slowly descends
over the town,
at sundown,
with no sound,
all around.

Stressed out, ugly people
in the dark everywhere
always in a hurry, going nowhere
that they can see
gingerly,
dastardly,
speedily.

As I blaze through everywhere
causing a commotion,
everybody else seems to move in slow motion
and it brings me down.

Complacency and apathy
make them move so slow,
as they seek deep in their souls
to see what's there:
but it's a blur,
shows in their empty stares
and they don't care.

Chained and damaged
by hang ups, doubts and caution,
their perception is always dulled by their slow motion
and it brings me down.
