Today's video is how to freeze celery the easy way.. quick and fast!
You can put away fresh celery a few different ways such as freezing, drying.
I chose freezing cause it is just quicker and I intend to use the celery in the foods I prepare and the soups I make later on.
You can either blanch your celery or choose not too, I decided to save time I would just bag fresh and it seemed work just fine.
Our celery here in the midwest did not get real big that could of been because of the weather we had this summer.
Celery likes water and a partly shaded area to grow.
Just cut up your desired lengths and place in a freezer bag and freeze..
When the celery was frozen I decided to check on them and it was as I predicted the pieces just fell apart being stalk or leaves.
So very easy to place and measure for your recipes and soups.
Sure the celery is best fresh but usually you can't use it all right away so this is just a good way to preserve quickly.. You can even do this with some you buy at the store in a bunch..
A tip when your celery in the frig starts getting dry and limpy they say to place in a cup of water upright, the celery will adsorb the water and renew . Honestly I haven't done this but will try it next time.. that is if I ever need to buy stored bought celery ever again. Let's hope not!
So Grow some Celery it's easy..Celery is food you can freeze.

Thanks for this idea. I've never thought about freezing celery. Whenever I buy celery I end up using a little bit of it and the rest goes to waste. Next time I'll freeze it.

when the celery grows does it take alot of space or do the stalks stand up straight? i've never planted it too afraid i'd ruin it somehow because of how long it takes. would it die over winter or could it be mulched?

@califree01 , Hi, it really doesn't take up much space at all I planted mine in a small maybe 4 ft roll, they probably get at a guess around 12 inches wide but I suppose this can vary on location, temps and so on.. I have to wait and see if it will winter here some say zone 5 and warmer, this is my first year of growing .. all you can do is try .. and see how it goes on your end.. hope this helps!

Looks simple enough, but I have a slight problem. I've never grown celery before ! We do use it in soups and stuff, and it even makes its way into some salads. Anything you can do to preserve the fresh taste of the garden is always a good idea. ;-)
