The case of an Indian student jailed in the U.S. more than three years ago, is being seen as a major test of America's human rights. A jury found Vikram Buddhi guilty of posting online threats against the former U.S. President George W. Bush. RT's Karan Singh has been following the growing campaign for his release.

The duration of the sentence is quite excessive. A fine and an open-jail ( community service) sentence of few months would have sufficed. This is the same country that sentences supermodel Naomi few days' of community service for breaking cracking someone's skull. Mr. Buddhi can expect no help from the Indian Govt. since he is not a Muslim and the present Govt. wouldn't derive publicity from saving such a man. Not would the media be interested. So rot in the jail, Mr. Buddhi. You had it!
What is free speech? Asking a president of a country to be murdered is not considered to be freedom of speech. no wonder, Russia is new democracy and they have lot to learn about free speech and human rights.
what exactly did he post on his blog? if he was inciting violence or making direct threats then he doesn't have a chance because that is not protected under 1st amendment.
if he indeed did post those threats, and im not saying that he didn't, wouldn't it have been best to just deport him? he was an international student, and he obviously had no way of actually carrying out the threat, so i think the govt just inhumanely overreacted to his blog
just for your information ziad jarrah and mohommad atta were 'international students' on a student visa. if he did write what he did, he deserved his jailtime.
Victor, I agree that he should be sentenced. But so many Americans abused Mr. Bush during his presidency. BTW, Mr. Buddhi is not a Muslim. Kindly don't talk of things you don't know. I think you are a bona fide idiot. How can you sentence anyone for writing nonsense ?
The point here is that Indians (hindus) are very timid....and do not have the heart to do such things violence is not their nature .....any way...he could have been influenced by some one .....or some incident as mentioned....black student beinf expelled
