This video shows how to make a basic cupcake that can then be decorated with fantastic designs. Please search for cupcake designs on the cookeryskills YouTube channel where full instructions are given for decorating cupcakes and adding different flavours. To this basic cupcake mix you can add many different food items, such as chocolate, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, chopped strawberries and chopped banana to name but a few.

  • Hi - you may want to check if there is a raising agent in the all purpose flour first. It is difficult to answer specifically as flours tend to be slightly different around the world. If there is no raising agent, try adding 5g of baking powder and see how you get on. Best of luck!

  • Hi - difficult to say because of the rising agent in self-raising flour. Different flours tend to perform differently, particularly in different countries - give it a go and see how you get on!

  • To make a chocolate version, add about 15g of cocoa powder - this is what has been used in the cupcakes shown here.
