cont'd: Houses are no longer in the mid 50's like in the 1970-78 era, but a condo around $400g... double that for one on Buena Vista with the view of the Bay, etc. If you like walking, then WR still good because Johnson Road is one gridlock all summer long. And the beat goes on. Sometimes progress sucks
I lived there 3 years when in Elementary school- 50's

It's changed in that you cannot park anywhere without shelling out $3-4 an hour... unless you park somewhere up in Hilltop and walk down to the beach. Strip bar on the main drag doesn't add anything sweet to the flavour either. (No debate please)

@sparwood8 No I lived in New West and attended Lester Pearson High. We went down to White Rock quite regularly in the Summer. The best way to get a tan was to spend an hour in The Ocean Beach pub and another hour on the beach.
I haven't been back there for over 30 years and imagine it's changed quite a bit.

@dannysierra That was the SILVER MOON BALLROOM. Roller skating every Saturday. White rock used to be so cool, now it is a tinsel town. They don't even have the swim crib at the end of the pier anymore. Makes my cry, what they did to that town
-
I even remember this. Getting old, hey?
