Check out the 2010 porsche panamera drag racing in style v8 4.8 turbo four door at http://www.racelegal.com/web/news.asp jeep vs porsche, mustang vs porsche.
@dvbatt To be honest, I never tried it in a drag race... What i tried to say was that it took´s less than your initial described 1 sec. I got a 2010 AMG E63 and there is something similar call RACE START. This is very ugly to engage: Steering in 0 position, S+ activated, change to RS Mode, confirm with right paddle, Full throttle AND... you lost every RACE !! Thats why I´am happy with the Porsche Launch Control. I could post a video of the AMG Race Start...
@KOS001 It has Sport Chrono and launch control works fine, but the immediate part is only when you remove your foot from the brake. The process to activate it (foot on brake, full throttle, change to launch mode profile) still takes a moment. It would take a few runs to calibrate the timing (when to initiate the launch mode profile) or you can put it in launch mode as soon as you stage and hold it while the other car gets in position, but the stress on the engine is not recommended.
On the second run I was trying Launch Control for the first time. It takes about a second to activate it before you can launch. When the first yellow light on the tree lit up I activated, but by the time it would allow me to launch the green had already hit. That was actually my record time of 7.791@ 91.28mph. The Jeep got a 8.420 @ 82.41mph. I found that it was easier to just stomp the throttle and save Launch Control for stop lights when you can prepare for the green.

@HotTexasBoi
Not sure how long you can hold it in launch control before take off, but it is not good for the car to begin with so it should be kept to a minimum.

Which Panamera is it? The s or the 4S?

Beautiful car. I like that the look of it is abstract.
How long can you hold launch control? And what were your times in the quarter mile?
