Last Thursday night the Hotel des Arts unveiled their final painted rooms. There's nowhere left to paint but the hallways and that may be coming next. I talked to John Doffing, who got this whole thing rolling about four years ago. I also interviewed a few of the artist who had new rooms on display. Chandra Michaels of Sugarluxe was there hanging out in her new room. Plasticgod the artist formerly known as Flasticf--ker was doing a photo shoot involving a scantily clad model. I also met local filmmaker Kevin Epps, he's a big fan of the hotel, and he talked about why he likes it. He also told me about his latest film project called "The Black Rock," a documentary about African-American prisoners on Alcatraz.
