AMSOIL Motorsports Marketing Manager Jeremy Meyer could not have scripted a more perfect scenario to launch the new AMSOIL Cup. Traditionally the biggest short course off-road race of the year, the Labor Day weekend Cup race pits PRO 2WD trucks against PRO 4X4 trucks in an all-out dash for cash.
Douglas won the AMSOIL Cup in his backup truck after a catastrophic fire burned the powertrain of the primary truck in round 11 of TORC Series racing. Scott Douglas headed into the Crandon weekend just 7 points out of first place in PRO 4x4. The fire took Douglas out of points contention for PRO 4X4 title, but thanks to his consistency in (top three) podium finishes Scott maintained his standings in the points battle. Douglas bounced back from the fire to finish on the podium in third in Sunday mornings round 12. Scott Douglas finished the season third in PRO 4X4 points with nine podiums in twelve races.
