Please listen to real opera singers singing it. Just search for "O mio babbino caro" here and listen to various interpretations. E.g. Angela Gheorghiu or Renee Fleming or Anna Netrebko. Or great singers of the past like Callas, Tebaldi, Price, te Kanawa. Or even young singers - Ailyn Perez, Nadine Sierra. This will give you an idea on how it should be sung.
