Just a warning about being careful with regards to bahtinov masks and the materials used in their manufacture. It may also be prudent to note the date this video was uploaded.

  • would you recommend using a bahtinov mask on a refractor?

  • @nufto Absolutely, and it's probably one of the cheapest, yet most used additions you will add to your equipment. Once you use a bahtinov you wonder how you managed without one, they really are that good! Obviously you need the right one for the scope as they are custom to aperture and focal length.

  • i love me some science fiction novels, thats why i only use my trusted ASIMOV MASK.

  • Almost had me ,Ha ha ha that deserves a click!

  • Got picked up by our astro club forum - definitely ROTFL!!

  • @gromits1 That is what worked for me. About the time dew formed on my SCT, my mask would not fit! Fortunately I had a battery powered microwave built into my home-built dob that dried it off in a jiffy.

  • Good try pulling our legs!! nice one!

  • As you have said it's made of memory plastic, so if your original one shrunk in the cold and damp, surely putting it in your airing cupboard where it's warm and dry should return it to it's original size ;0)

  • nice try :)

  • April Fool!
