A crowded downtown (5) train is sent down the local track. It leaves. Another (5) train passes on the express track.

for some reason at that station, downtown express trains are quite slow

It's probably because trains are slowing down for the station at 14th Street. Either because there's a train that's about to leave, or just abbroaching the crossover just south of 18th Street.

@mta6local Technically, it's the 4 and 6 trains, but there was apparently congestion on the express track, so some 5 trains went local.

@KINGTO101 They dont. They have the program just in case. The (5) has so many programs. The (5) runs local more then you think. Alot of times they will send a 4/5 local because the Lex Exp is such a log jamn during the rush hour.
