I still can see the big Balloon running after number..?..What number was he lol! About the soul and spirit. Where I believe we might get confuse, is that we naturaly mix our personality and even memories with our Soul. When I meditate on the Tao, and i'm in Peace(sometime lol!)though I cannot give proof of it's eternity, my Soul doesn't seem to have a need for my lower mortal physical self to be. Do you imagne a Boucrate for eternity, the Univers ain't that mean lol! Hey salut!

deserve to be elitist? HOw can you deserve to be elite? In essence everyone is the same. Race and gender become irrelevant. The problem with elitism is that the elitist wants to dominate and exploit the "inferior" ones for the most part. No one is inherently superior. Elitism is just having an exaggerated, dangerously huge ego.

So life will create new forms of life. But it will not be artificial, but true life. I don't think life can emerge from arrangements of circuitry. However the developing science of nano technology is different. I think when sciencists can create custom built cells and micro-organisms from the atom upwards then they are using the standing properties of atoms to artificially evolve new forms of life. It's like building on a foundation that is already in place.. the evolutionary context is crucial.

It's been a while since I posted this and since then I've thought about it some more. I also agree with Gnothean -- life will no doubt beget life. But I think it is an important distinction to realise that it is LIFE that will be created. The life essence I see as an evolutionary link of emergent complexity that arises out of the fundamental particles and beyond to the 'essence of particles' -- that ultimately there is no 'solid smallest particle' rather pure energy.

And, just for kicks - what, exactly, is really "wrong" with elitism?

Not that I am an elitist or an elite member of anything, but it just seems to me that there is a strange bias against it based almost entirely on the opinions of non-elite people. Kind of like oranges disliking the apples for being applists. The Big Enders dissing the Little Enders for cracking the "wrong" end of a boiled egg.

Maybe the elite are the elite because they deserve to be, both in humanity and in nature.

To me it would seem much more likely that only some humans have souls as opposed to all humans having souls. Does every human have a PhD?

Maybe some humans have certain genetic attributes that are only activated by particular (but repeatable) combinations of envirionment and cognitive experiences which then give rise to aspects of our evolutionary possibilities that are currently too subtle for our science to discern but of which have been known of throughout history and called "soul."
