Will will have horses that get very competitive and want that win, then you have the ones that don't. For the people who don't or may never by reading that go to a racetrack and you will see. For exp, horses that fight the bit don't want to be held back, ears pricked, basically you can tell by body language.

She was a 3 yr old. And no they are improving the safety of horses. Surfaces such as polytrack and synthetic are way safer than dirt, that's why it's been replaced at some tracks(less breakdowns.) Tbs are breed to run. Have been for many many years.
Lastly, not all owners, trainers etc.. are in it for the $. For most people it's a way of life.

Racing is cowardice, as well as other events that abuse animals.
I hate humans.
Especially those idiots who abuse animals.
