To my antipodean friends
I send this little wish
as you are lounging barbie-side
and gnawing prawn and fish:
I wish for you a flake or two,
a bit o' sleet and ice--
for that is what my christmas is...
it's snow that makes it nice.
A fireplace crackling warm and bright,
hot toddy in a mug,
a little warmth against the chill,
a quilt to keep me snug.
A pot of sav'ry chili or a
turkey roasted gold
these things are part of Christmastime
in places where it's cold.
Stocking caps protect our ears and
flannel warms our asses;
though parkas keep us comfy
our breath steams up our glasses.
Through all of this we do not mind
a frostbite here and there,
because, like you, we love the day
for Christmas is in the air!
So keep an eye out, as we do,
for reindeer in the sky;
enjoy your kiwi pavs and such
whilst we indulge in pie.
Oh, broil for us a prawn or two
and lift your glasses high
and let our voices all sing out
for Christmastime is nigh.
@tygrtldy Yes, the elves' work is never done, is it? I hope the video was a nice break from all of your elf-ly duties!
I've got a few more Christmas tricks up my sleeve. Stay tuned!
Mucho huggos!

@JennyD412 I wasn't sure about that the line about flannel, Jenny; I suspect most people don't expect to see that particular reference in a poem about Christmas; glad you appreciated. I guess as we get older that flannel comes in mighty handy!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!

Lol, loved it, Marge. It was sweet, it was funny, it was touching. "flannel warms our asses..." I almost fell off the chair. That was GREAT! You have one fine knack of making the best little vids with your writings. What a pleasure!

very good, Marge, I have some of that flannel, too...this week I've had to wear double/triple layers out in the workshop, even after I got it warmed up...finished some gingerbreads today...fleece blankets are next...just one of Santa's elves....
